Financial Aid - Summer 2009
Initial summer financial aid awards will be made starting the first week of May to eligible students who are registered for summer term and have filed the 08/09 FAFSA.
To be considered for summer aid, you must complete the 08/09 FAFSA. If you have not already filed the 08/09 FAFSA, it must be completed no later than 10:00pm PDT June 30, 2009.
Attention: Be sure the 2008-2009 FAFSA on the Web Application is submitted as soon as possible and by June 30. Link here www.fafsa.ed.gov/
Summer aid eligibility is based on the number of units in which you are enrolled, your family contribution and remaining eligibility in the following financial aid programs:
- Pell Grant
- Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)
- National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (SMART) Grant
- Cal Grant - Must be requested from CA Student Aid Commission (CSAC)
- State University Grant
- Stafford Loan (SUB and UNSUB)
- Graduate PLUS Loan
- Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS)*
*ATTENTION Parent (PLUS) Loan Borrowers: You must apply for the summer PLUS loan through your lender (loan period 6/09 - 8/09) before Cal Poly can certify the loan even if you borrowed a PLUS loan during the previous academic year (fall, winter or spring).
Full-time students eligible for Financial Aid should begin receiving summer funds Monday, June 22, 2009. Enrollment in less than full-time will delay disbursement of funds until the third week of the term. Please budget your personal resources appropriately.
Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
If you are a continuing student and on financial aid probation for 2008/09 academic year, aid will not be awarded until spring grades are posted and we can verify your satisfactory academic progress (after 6/22/09). For details, read Cal Poly's Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy: www.ess.calpoly.edu/_finaid/policies/sap.htm
