Grants

Federal or State assistance with no obligation for work or repayment. Federal and state budgets for the 2011-12 year are still being determined. Therefore ALL state and federal aid award amounts for 2011-12 are tentative pending final legislative action.

The following grants are available at Cal Poly:

Federal Pell Grant

Awarded to eligible undergraduates working on a first bachelor's degree or students pursuing an initial credential. Award amounts for 2011-12 are tentative pending final legislative action.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)

Awarded to undergraduate students who have financial need. Award amounts for 2011-12 are tentative pending final legislative action.

Federal Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) 

Awarded to a Pell Grant recipient who meets GPA requirements. May receive the grant once as a freshman and once as a sophomore. Congress provided that ACG/SMART Grants sunset at the end of academic year 2010-2011. This grant will not be available for 2011-12.

Federal National SMART Grant

Awarded to a Pell Grant recipient who meets GPA minimums and who is in an eligible major. May receive the grant once as a junior and once as a senior. Congress provided that ACG/SMART Grants sunset at the end of academic year 2010-2011. This grant will not be available for 2011-12.

State University Grant (SUG)

SUG is a state funded program that provides money to assist with state university fees. SUG is available to both undergraduate and graduate students who are California residents and have financial aid eligibility. If you receive other grants designated to pay university fees your SUG will be replaced by those grants. Award amounts for 2011-12 are tentative pending final legislative action.

State Educational Opportunity Program (SEOP)

SEOP assists students admitted to Cal Poly through the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP). You must be an undergraduate student officially admitted to Cal Poly under the EOP Program with need-based aid eligibility. Award amounts for 2011-12 are tentative pending final legislative action.

Cal Grants

Cal Grant awards are state funded monetary grants given to students by the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) to California residents to help pay for college expenses. Award amounts for 2011-12 are tentative pending final legislative action.
