National Student Exchange - Cal Poly Students

Cal Poly remains your home school while the campus you are visiting is the host school.

Schools with Plan A

Cal Poly does not fund. Students are required to apply for aid from the host campus by listing that school on their FAFSA. Students pay registration fees/tuition to the host school and should contact the host school for cost information.

If the student will attend Cal Poly for part of the year, the student should apply for aid from Cal Poly as well as the host school.

Schools with Plan B

Cal Poly funds eligible students who have filed the FAFSA. Fees are paid to Cal Poly. Please note:

  • Your name must appear on the NSE approved list for outgoing Plan B from the IEP office.
  • Funds are sent to the host school's disbursement office. Fees and other university obligations to Cal Poly are deducted from your aid before a check for the balance is sent to the host school. Cal Poly will bill you if your aid is not enough to pay all Cal Poly obligations. Aid is disbursed at the same time other Cal Poly students receive their aid and the budget used is the cost of attendance of the host school. Participants should complete an Authorization of Transmittal of Financial Aid Funds from the Student Accounts Office .
  • While on NSE, you are not eligible for Federal Work-Study.
