Audits
An 'auditor' is
a student who has chosen to enroll in a course for no credit. An 'AU'
will be assigned if the auditing criteria has been met throughout
the term.
Auditing
Guidelines/Information:
- Before a student may audit a class, permission must be obtained
from the instructor. The instructor has the right to refuse to
accept a student as an auditor.
- The student must be registered (with fees paid) for the quarter
in which the course is to be audited.
- Students may enroll and opt to audit a class during the add/drop
period and no later than the last day to add a course. Students
may alter the grading option (from a graded class to an audit)
up until the quarter's deadline of the last day to drop. (To follow
the term add/drop deadlines, please review the outlined information
in the appropriate Quarter Class Schedule).
- An instructor has the authority to submit a change-of-grade
form to change an 'AU' to 'NC' for students who audit a class
but do not attend or do not meet the agreed upon criteria.
- In class sections which are limited in enrollment, preference
will go to students enrolling for credit.
- Audit units do NOT count towards units completed/earned hours,
or towards a student's financial aid units completed.
- The student service fee and nonresident tuition fee are determined
on the basis of total units for which a student is enrolled, including
courses audited.
- Students may obtain an audit petition from the Office of Academic
Records (OAR), located in Bldg. O1 - Room 222. The form must be
completed by the student, signed by the instructor of the course,
and returned to Academic Records by the last day to add via CPReg.
