Wait Listing

PeopleSoft Version

• Wait list from the beginning of rotation appointments thru the thursday before classes begin (Summer quarters may be a different day).
• Wait listing starts once a class is "closed" (enrollment is full).
• Wait lists are processed nightly.
• A notification email will be sent when a class is added from a wait list.
• Wait listing is only one option to attempt to gain a seat in a class.
• Using the Wait list option does NOT guarantee a seat in the class!
• Be advised that there are other options available (e.g. enroll in the class during another quarter; enroll for a suitable substitution with help from advising or your department etc.).
• ALWAYS print your complete class list (including waitlisted classes) before the end of day on the thursday before classes.

NEW Beginning FALL 2006:

• Students can wait list for related components (lecture and lab).
• Students will know their position on wait lists once they add to the wait list.
• Students cannot wait list the same lecture section or the same lab section more than once. Example: cannot wait list CHEM 111-01 lecture with more than one CHEM 111 lab section, or vice versa.
• Students can wait list for multiple sections of the same class if it does not have a related component. However, when the student is enrolled from the wait list it will also remove the student from the wait list for the other sections of the same class.

Restrictions

Cannot wait list if:

• Student is already enrolled in the class
• If there are holds on the student's account
• Pre-requisites have not been met
• If time conflicts are involved, adding to the wait list can occur, but the student will be bypassed repeatedly due to the time conflict

How to Wait List

In CPReg, you may attempt to wait list by resubmitting the request with the OK to WAIT LIST box checked. You will be automatically enrolled into a wait listed class if a seat becomes available and you are eligible for enrollment. If you are auto-enrolled from a wait list, notification will be sent to your Cal Poly email account.

Note ~ Having your name on the wait list does NOT guarantee a seat in the class!
