Cal Poly Financial Aid

Picture of Students and Campus

The Financial Aid Office helps you plan your finances and organize your resources to cover your college costs. Financial assistance is a resource designed to supplement the cost of education, and is not intended to be used as a student's sole means of income. The types and amounts of aid Cal Poly awards or recommends are subject to availability of funds, enrollment status, and financial need. Cal Poly students have a variety of financial aid programs available for assistance. Programs vary in eligibility criteria, award amounts, and repayment options.

IMPORTANT UPDATE

2008-2009

  • Summer Aid - registered summer students who have applied for 2008-09 financial aid are being reviewed and notified of eligibility for summer aid. If you are not eligible for aid for summer or have been notified of loan eligibility and choose not to apply - you will need to pay your summer fees directly.
  • Summer disbursements: First disbursement of summer aid will occur on Monday, June 22nd (file must be complete and for loans and State Grants, the student must be enrolled in at least 6 units) and will be applied against outstanding fees. If there is a credit balance, those funds will be refunded to the student either via check or direct deposit on Wednesday, June 24th.

2009-2010

  • Attention New Cal Grant High School Grads: Verification of your high school graduation is required for the Cal Grant Entitlement Program. Confirmation can be completed on-line at WebGrants for Students https://mygrantinfo.csac.ca.gov/logon.asp . To set up your account (if you haven't already done so), log in and click on 'Cal Grants' to submit your high school graduation confirmation.
  • Direct Lending FAQ - Effective Fall 2009 Cal Poly will certify all Stafford and PLUS loans through the Federal Direct Loan program. For more information and answers to your questions CLICK HERE.
  • Fall registration fees will not be posted until July 27th. You will want to be sure that any required documents are submitted prior to that date.
  • Students should check their portal for updates on their financial aid status and to see if additional documents are needed to finalize awards. Your financial aid package is on hold until we receive and review all items on your 'to do' list.
  • If you or your family has experienced a significant financial change from 2008 you may submit a Special Conditions appeal. Appeals may be submitted beginning July 1 when you can provide documentation for at least 6 months of your 2009 income. You must provide 2008 federal tax forms, a completed Verification Worksheet and other documentation as specified on the Special Conditions form.
