The Financial Aid Office helps you plan your finances and organize your resources to cover your college costs. Financial assistance is a resource designed to supplement the cost of education, and is not intended to be used as a student's sole means of income. The types and amounts of aid Cal Poly awards or recommends are subject to availability of funds, enrollment status, and financial need. Cal Poly students have a variety of financial aid programs available for assistance. Programs vary in eligibility criteria, award amounts, and repayment options.
IMPORTANT UPDATE
2009-2010
Winter 2010
- Once you register for Winter classes you will see a balance on your account. If you have financial aid or a scholarship award you are not in jeopardy of losing your classes. When your award is disbursed just before the start of classes, it will be applied against our balance. If the award does not fully cover your balance, you will need to pay the remaining balance due at that time.
- Reminder: No funds can disburse until we receive and review all items on your “to-do” list. You should check the “to-do” list on your portal to confirm that everything is complete.

- Talking to parents – Federal regulation prohibit the release of student information without the student’s written permission. The FERPA form available on our “Forms” page (link on the left sidebar) enables the student to give permission for us to discuss their file with you.
- Web Verify – another way for the student to give interested parties (parents, scholarship agencies) access to review their financial and registration information. Students can access web verify by going to their portal. The web verify link should be on the first page of the portal.
